Annual Business Meeting: Report Out

In June, the Board of Directors met at the Annual Business Meeting. The Board reviewed the second year goals of the 5 Year Strategic Plan and reviewed the last year of successes. At this meeting, the Board elects its officers for a 1-year term.

At prior Business Meetings, President Justin Edson expressed his continued belief in term limits and the importance of new ideas. As part of this planned succession and after four years as the Founding President of the Foundation, Justin Edson stepped down from the Board of Directors to usher in new leadership and thought. He will still remain very much involved advising the Board and helping to keep CEOSF moving in the right direction.

Justin Edson stated, “I am humbled by the opportunity to serve such a passionate organization and to be in a role that helped guide its direction. After four years as President, I am thrilled to see new leaders step up into these roles. I look forward to my continued involvement in the Foundation and serving with so many AMAZING people with big hearts! I am excited and enthusiastic to see the new officers of the Board add their value to the Foundation.”

New President of CEOSF

The Board unanimously appointed Tim Sun as President of the Foundation after serving four years as the Founding Vice President. It was always Tim’s goal to create a 501c3 nonprofit for officer safety. His passion has been at the heart of CEOSF. The murder of Jill Robinson pushed Tim to do more for officer safety and create a GoFundMe for body armor. This led to the founding of CEOSF. He is a certified instructor that travels North America to train about Officer Safety. Tim is a Code Enforcement Manager in California and has over 20 years of experience in Code Enforcement.

“I am humbled and feel truly blessed to have the opportunity to volunteer alongside so many wonderful team members at the Foundation who serve the profession with a servant’s heart. I am deeply proud of the Foundation’s contributions in serving the Code Enforcement Profession in honor and memory of fallen CE Officer Jill Robinson and so many others who paid the ultimate price while serving their communities,” said President Tim Sun.

 New Vice President of CEOSF

The Board unanimously appointed Travis D. Guess as Vice President of the Foundation. Travis is a Founding Board Member of CEOSF since 2020. He has most recently also served as President of the Oklahoma Code Enforcement Association. He is a Code Enforcement Officer, Building Official, Fire Code Official, Zoning Officer, and Deputy Emergency Manager. He holds numerous certifications from ICC, AACE, OCEA, and Oklahoma.

 Re-appointed Secretary/Treasurer of CEOSF

The Board unanimously reappointed Jeremy Kovinchick as Secretary/Treasurer to a fourth term. Jeremy was one of the Foundation’s first volunteers and was appointed to this role in December 2021. He is currently a Code Enforcement Manager in Colorado and served as a U.S. Army Calvary Scout Sergeant. Jeremy has his advanced certification through the Colorado Association of Code Enforcement Officials.
